2017 Is Off to a Quick Start for the Vaping World

Happy Tuesday.

I hope you all got off to a great start to your week. Speaking of starts, it looks as though the first 10 days of 2017 have been very eventful for those in the vaping community.

Vaping has reached the national parks, it has reached an undercover sting operation and once again, we are back in the face of controversy. Some day soon the world will come to understand and accept vaping for what it is. Until that day comes, we need to keep pressing forward.

Let’s get started with this weeks news shall we?

No More Vaping in National Parks, but Is NPS’s Reasoning Sound?

First off? Does anyone really have a problem with this? I am all for the freedom to do what you want but if anyone is upset about the NPS preferring you don’t vape in a natural habitat, I think you may need to crawl to your safe space.

“Protecting the health and safety of our visitors and employees is one of the most critical duties of the National Park Service,” Michael Reynolds, the acting director of the National Park Service, said in a statement. “It is clear from a recent rule by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and a report by the Surgeon General that electronic cigarettes are a threat to public health, especially to the health of young people.”

Last May, NPS announced that it would consider placing ENDS products under the same regulations as tobacco. Now it’s made its decision.

Vaping Is Not a Gateway to Smoking, New Study Shows

Vapers at the Virginia Commonwealth University were 3.4 times as likely to be smoking cigarettes a year later as young adults who were vape-free, according to the first-ever longitudinal study examining the progression of college students from vaping to smoking.

Researchers followed 3,757 freshmen for one year to discover if e-cigarette use at the baseline was associated with a progression from not smoking to trying a cigarette or currently using cigarettes at the follow-up.

The study, according to one the most die-hard e-cigarette opponents in the public health lobby today—Dr. Stanton Glantz—is yet another confirmation of the so-called ‘gateway’ effect of vaping. “The evidence just keeps piling up,” proclaims Glantz.

This Manager Started Vaping on the Bench in the Middle of an FA Cup Game

The FA Cup is magical. You get to see so many things that you rarely otherwise see. Small stadiums, Cinderella runs, entire communities rallying behind a single dream.

And managers vaping in the dugout.

That’s Sutton United manager Paul Doswell, who was panicking because his team couldn’t score. Or something. And the match finished scoreless so there’s a replay, this time at Wimbledon, so he’ll have to get the rules on vaping at the away stadium for that one.
